I need a new career. I am a mechanic now. Green energy?

So I have been a mechanic for over 9 years working on BMWs. It has been a good career for me but its time to move on. I work at a great shop with the best boss anyone could want but my hart is no longer in it. I am a 30 year old high school dropout with a GED and an associates degree in automotive technology. I am very good with my hands and have a great ability to figure how things work. I would like to find something that I can use my imagination and hands. I’m not into art but I do like mechanical stuff. I have been thinking of something in the green energy field but don’t know much about it. I live in San Francisco and would like to stay around here but I would move if I found the right thing. I am use to making about 70K a year but would be fine to take a pay cut down to about 50 if it was something I enjoyed. I just need something I can get satisfaction from. Does anyone have any recommendations or advice? I would also like to find something that may help the world.
Thanks.

How do you stay green when the economy is down?

I know there are a lot of ways to go green. But, what kinds of ways have you found to go green while the economy is hurting? My son brought home a catalog for www.go-green-fundraising.com and they had some great products that are not very expensive. What other ways have you all found?

I’m thinking about building my own computer?

Ok, so I’m new to computer hardware and I’m looking for a relatively cheap way to build a nice computer. I have a couple spare parts from an old computer that could be of use. It is a DVD and CD player and writer, The hard drive is only 100GB IDE. The motherboard and CPU may also be working but I would rather get better. So i have my list and it adds up to around $340… But i’m not sure if all of the parts are compatible. Here is what I’m looking at.

Western Digital Caviar Green WD7500AADS 750GB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5″ Hard Drive

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136359

SATA 3.0Gb/s 750GB 32MB cache

Antec Basiq BP430 430W Continuous Power ATX12V Version 2.2 80 PLUS Power Supply

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371023

AMD Athlon II X2 265 Regor 3.3GHz

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103910

GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128394

So those are the essentials i found but is it good for gaming (Not too hardcore) but reasonable gaming? I noticed the mini ATX motherboard comes with sound/video/LAN on-board. Is this a good thing or would i want to replace those? Also is my 100GB HDD OK or should i switch to the SATA 750GB?

I want to be able to watch HD movies and play some reasonable games like World of Warcraft.

I want to get http://www.bestbuy.com/site/eMachines+-+20%22+Flat-Panel+LCD+Monitor/1373011.p?id=1218254503232&skuId=1373011 monitor but how good is the quality?

Well sorry for rambling but any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
